Linux MEPIS

MEPIS.orgで新しいSimplyMEPISが出ていたので、リリース文を訳してみた。訳すまでもないだろう的な発言は聞こえません。isoも焼いて見たので、あとで見てみます。

ウェストバージニア/モーガンタウン; 2004年12月15日: MEPIS LLC(LLCってなんですか？)はSimplyMEPIS 2004.06.をリリースしました。この最新のCDは、簡体字中国語(Simplified Chineseと有ります)および日本語のフォントをサポートします。さらなる中国語/日本語サポートが計画中です。
その他の改良点は、ハードウェア互換性向上の為にGRUBブートローダーを更新した事と、インストール中のディスク・フォーマット処理を改善する為に、parted/qtpartedを更新した事です。
kernel 2.6向けalsa-modulesのアップデートがMEPIS poolリポジトリーにプリインストールされ、使用可能となっています。
meautoとmeauto-dataがハードウェア互換性改善の為に更新されました。これは主にサウンドカードサポートの充実の為です。ただし、他のパッケージとの以前の競合により、meautoを直接更新する事はできません。
最新のSimplyMEPISのユーザは、rootのコマンドラインからmeautoを含む重要な機能の更新を実行する事ができます:

$apt-get update
$apt-get install simplymepis
もしくはkpackageかsynapticから同等の操作を行ってください。

aptの設定を変更したユーザ及び「dist-upgrade」を実行したユーザは、標準のMEPISの設定と異なる為に、最新のsimplymepisメタパッケージを使用すると問題が発生する可能性があります。

SimplyMEPISは完全なデスクトップLinuxで、その特徴はKDE 3.2.3デスクトップ、OpenOffice 1.1.2、Mozilla 1.7.2、GIMP2、Xine及びその他の充実したアプリケーションが、デスクトップユーザにいつでも、すぐに必要とされる生産的なSimplyMEPISデスクトップLinux環境を提供する事です。

Morgantown, WV; December 15, 2004: MEPIS LLC has released SimplyMEPIS 2004.06. This latest CD adds font support for Simplified Chinese and Japanese. Additional CJ support is planned. Other CD improvements include an updated GRUB bootloader for better hardware compatibility and updated parted and qtparted for improved disk formatting support during installation.

An updated version of alsa-modules for kernel 2.6 is preinstalled and also available in the MEPIS pool. meauto and meauto-data have been improved for better hardware compatibility, especially for sound card support. Due to a previous conflict with another package, meauto should not be updated directly. Current users of SimplyMEPIS can perform a key function update, including meauto, by running from a root commandline:
apt-get update
apt-get install simplymepis
or doing the equivalent from kpackage or synaptic. Anyone who has modified their apt configuration and anyone who has performed a "dist-upgrade" no longer has a standard MEPIS configuration and may encounter problems using the updated simplymepis metapackage.

SimplyMEPIS is a complete desktop Linux that fetures the KDE 3.2.3 desktop, OpenOffice 1.1.2, Mozilla 1.7.2, GIMP2, Xine, and many other applications to give the desktop user everything needed to quickly become productive in the SimplyMEPIS desktop Linux environment.
